In 2020-2021, 2,419 people earned their degree in urban and regional planning, making the major the 183rd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, urban and regional planning graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $51,745 and had an average of $23,296 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 422 urban and regional planning graduates with average earnings and debt of $51,066 and $27,000 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Urban Planning Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking looked at 15 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in urban and regional planning. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent urban and regional planning programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Florida Atlantic University. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value Urban Planning Schools in the Southeast Region. FAU is a large public school situated in Boca Raton, Florida. It awarded 32 ’s urban planning degrees in 2020-2021.
FAU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #11 on our “Best Urban & Regional Planning Schools in the Southeast Region” list. The yearly cost to attend Florida Atlantic University is $10,735 for Southeast Region Urban Planning students.
