It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Education” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Education is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 4th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 327,871 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,202 and had an average of $24,437 in loans still to pay off.
Across Maryland, there were 5,394 education graduates with average earnings and debt of $52,112 and $27,026 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Education” ranking, we looked at 17 colleges that offer a degree in education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the education program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 17 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Education that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Maryland - College Park landed the #1 spot on the list. University of Maryland - College Park is a large school located in College Park, Maryland that handed out 435 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Johns Hopkins University. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Education. This large school is located in Baltimore, Maryland, and it awarded 916 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.
Johns Hopkins not only placed well in this ranking.
