In 2019-2020, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $70,916 and had an average of $25,426 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 57,106 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $67,647 and $27,241 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Nursing” ranking looked at 272 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in nursing. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great nursing programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Alverno College came in at #22 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Nursing ranking. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this small private not-for-profit school handed out 190 diplomas to qualified ’s nursing students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our great lakes region vets studying nursing list, Alverno has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 1,876 students enrolled at Alverno College, 30 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 17 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $17,482. On top of their other funding sources, 1 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Alverno College does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Since the school has a undergrad student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1, those pursuing a degree will have more opportunities to interact with their professors. University of Toledo came in at #23 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Nursing ranking. Toledo, Ohio is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s nursing degrees to 431 students in 2020-2021.

University of Toledo also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 18,319 students enrolled at University of Toledo, 510 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 232 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,784. With a ranking of #24, Western Michigan University did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Nursing list. Western Michigan University is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 121 ’s nursing degrees to qualified students.

WMU not only placed well in this ranking.
