In 2020-2021, 6,538 people earned their degree in library science, making the major the 35th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, library science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $43,990 and had an average of $24,604 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 937 library science graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,593 and $16,000 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Library Science” ranking analyzed 6 colleges that offered a degree in library science. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality library science programs as well as strong veteran support.
