Our 2021 rankings named Idaho State University the best school in Idaho for veterans working on their bachelor’s degree. This fairly large public school is located in Pocatello, Idaho, and it awarded 2,273 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Of the 11,766 students enrolled at ISU, 426 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 269 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,255. To help with additional expenses, 4 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

University of Idaho

Moscow, Idaho

Out of the 8 schools in Idaho that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Idaho landed the #2 spot on the list. Moscow, Idaho is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 2,596 students in 2019-2020.

According to our most recent data, U of I supports 10,791 students, and 394 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 274 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $7,314. During this same period, 19 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

Lewiston, Idaho

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Lewis - Clark State College. The school came in at #3 in Idaho on this year’s best for vets ranking. Located in Lewiston, Idaho, the small public school handed out 870 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Of the 3,856 students enrolled at Lewis - Clark State College, 160 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 98 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,018. During this same period, 9 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Lewis - Clark State College does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Boise State University. It ranked #4 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Veterans in Idaho list. Boise State is located in Boise, Idaho and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 5,327 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.

Among the 24,069 students enrolled at Boise State, 1,093 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 757 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,230. In addition to receiving other benefits, 4 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Brigham Young University - Idaho. It ranked #5 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Veterans in Idaho list. BYU - I is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Rexburg, Idaho. It awarded 7,684 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Among the 44,481 students enrolled at BYU - I, 487 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 274 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,141. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The school has an impressive student loan default rate. It’s only 3.2%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. BYU - I also took the #2 spot in our Best Schools in Idaho rankings.

With a ranking of #6, Northwest Nazarene University did quite well on the 2021 Best Colleges for Veterans in Idaho list. NNU is a private not-for-profit institution located in Nampa, Idaho. The school has a small population, and it awarded 538 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Among the 2,109 students enrolled at NNU, 84 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 70 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $11,124. To help with additional expenses, 12 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

NNU also took the #5 spot in our Best Schools in Idaho rankings.

Caldwell, Idaho

The College of Idaho came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Best Colleges for Veterans in Idaho ranking. Caldwell, Idaho is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 217 students in 2019-2020.

According to our most recent data, The College of Idaho supports 1,114 students, and 35 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 26 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $20,551. To help with additional expenses, 15 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. The College of Idaho does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

The school has an impressive student loan default rate. It’s only 4.4%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. The College of Idaho not only placed well in our veterans ranking, but it is also #1 on our Best Schools in Idaho list.
