Horticulture is the 218th most popular major in the country with 3,234 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, horticulture graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $35,708 and had an average of $18,440 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 599 horticulture graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,330 and $14,333 respectively.

This year’s “Most Well Attended Horticulture Major in the Great Lakes Region” ranking looked at 36 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in horticulture. To top this list, a school must have a successful horticulture program that graduates more students in the field than other colleges that offer the same major.
