Our “Best Value Accounting Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking is part of that endeavor.

In 2019-2020, 75,655 accounting students received their degree, making the major the 7th most popular in the country.

Across the Southeast region, there were 17,004 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 11,507 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value Accounting Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking, we looked at 250 colleges that offer a degree in accounting. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great accounting programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the accounting program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 250 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Harding University landed the #1 spot on the list. Harding University is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Searcy, Arkansas. It awarded 61 bachelors’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at Harding, the school also landed the #18 spot in our “Best Accounting Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. The yearly cost to attend Harding University is $19,375 for southeast region bachelor’s degree accounting students.

Out of the 250 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, American Public University System landed the #2 spot on the list. American Military University is a large private for-profit school situated in Charles Town, West Virginia. It awarded 60 bachelors’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of South Florida - Main Campus. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region list. This large school is located in Tampa, Florida, and it awarded 322 bachelors’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

USF Tampa did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #23 on our “Best Accounting Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list. It costs about $8,355 for southeast region bachelor’s degree accounting students per year to attend USF Tampa.
