In 2020-2021, 29,810 people earned their degree in general education, making the major the 41st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $48,719 and had an average of $23,394 in loans still to pay off.

Across Oregon, there were 795 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,103 and $24,000 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Education” ranking, we looked at 9 colleges that offer a degree in general education. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general education programs as well as strong veteran support.

Western Oregon University is a small public school situated in Monmouth, Oregon. It awarded 160 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.

Western Oregon State College did well in our major quality rankings, too. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Portland State University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Education list. Located in Portland, Oregon, this large public school handed out 176 diplomas to qualified ’s education students in 2020-2021.

Portland State University did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 1,127 of the 23,640 students enrolled at Portland State University were GI Bill® students, of which 739 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,835. To help with additional expenses, 100 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Portland State University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Oregon State University is a large school located in Corvallis, Oregon that handed out 95 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.

Oregon State not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 32,312 students enrolled at Oregon State University, 1,559 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Eugene, Oregon is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s education degrees to 76 students in 2020-2021.

UO also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 21,752 students enrolled at UO, 582 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 314 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $11,688. In addition to receiving other benefits, 25 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. UO does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Southern Oregon University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Education ranking. This medium-sized school is located in Ashland, Oregon, and it awarded 40 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.

Southern Oregon University also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 250 of the 5,140 students enrolled at Southern Oregon University were GI Bill® students, of which 116 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. University of Portland did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 3,999 students enrolled at University of Portland, 107 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 49 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,239. In addition to receiving other benefits, 56 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
