Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Education” ranking is part of that endeavor.

General Education is the 41st most popular major in the country with 29,810 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $48,719 and had an average of $23,394 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 2,988 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $52,715 and $16,946 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Education” ranking looked at 33 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the general education program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

The University of Texas at El Paso came in at #25 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Education ranking. This large school is located in El Paso, Texas, and it awarded 6 ’s education degrees in 2020-2021.
