In 2020-2021, 28,844 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 39th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $74,380 and had an average of $24,114 in loans still to pay off.

Across Illinois, there were 1,029 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,093 and $24,079 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for EE” ranking analyzed 8 colleges that offered a degree in electrical engineering. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent electrical engineering programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

UIUC did well in our major quality rankings, too. Out of the 8 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for EE that were part of this year’s ranking, Illinois Institute of Technology landed the #5 spot on the list. Illinois Tech is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Chicago, Illinois. It awarded 101 ’s EE degrees in 2020-2021.

Illinois Tech not only placed well in this ranking.
