When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.

Engineering is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 7th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 198,468 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $68,653 and had an average of $23,855 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 23,446 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,300 and $23,146 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering” ranking, we looked at 35 colleges that offer a degree in engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering programs as well as strong veteran support.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the engineering program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s engineering degrees to 2,566 students in 2020-2021.

ASU - Tempe did well in our major quality rankings, too.
