Psychology is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 8th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 195,678 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, psychology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $35,611 and had an average of $25,989 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 19,929 psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,468 and $23,942 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Psychology” ranking, we looked at 84 colleges that offer a degree in psychology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great psychology programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

The University of Texas at Arlington ranked #23 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Psychology list. Located in Arlington, Texas, this large public school handed out 256 degrees to qualified ’s psychology students in 2020-2021.

SMU also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 12,373 students enrolled at Southern Methodist University, 327 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 215 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $15,612. During this same period, 103 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
