Genetics is the 206th most popular major in the country with 1,543 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, genetics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $36,723 and had an average of $22,299 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 304 genetics graduates with average earnings and debt of $28,199 and $24,984 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Genetics Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking, we looked at 18 colleges that offer a degree in genetics. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great genetics programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the genetics program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
