It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. College Factual has developed its “Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
Computer Science is the 12th most popular major in the country with 59,565 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.
Across Arizona, there were 1,488 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $61,710 and $24,189 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona” ranking, we looked at 7 colleges that offer a degree in computer science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer science programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the computer science program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Arizona. It ranked #1 on our 2024 Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona list. University of Arizona is a large school located in Tucson, Arizona that handed out 231 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
University of Arizona also made our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list, coming in at #1. The yearly cost to attend University of Arizona is $13,358 for Arizona CompSci students.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Arizona State University - Tempe. It ranked #2 on our 2024 Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona list. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s compsci degrees to 986 students in 2020-2021.
ASU - Tempe did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list. It costs about $13,107 for arizona compsci students per year to attend ASU - Tempe.
With a freshman retention rate of 86%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 4.5%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Northern Arizona University. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona. Northern Arizona University is a public institution located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The school has a large population, and it awarded 88 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
NAU also made our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list, coming in at #3. The estimated yearly cost for Northern Arizona University is $14,308 for arizona compsci students.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.6% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
Out of the 7 schools in the Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona that were part of this year’s ranking, Arizona State University - Skysong landed the #4 spot on the list. Scottsdale, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s compsci degrees to 105 students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at ASU - Skysong, the school also landed the #5 spot in our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” ranking.
The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 4.5%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Grand Canyon University. It ranked #5 on our 2024 Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona list. This large school is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and it awarded 17 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
Grand Canyon University also made our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list, coming in at #4. The yearly cost to attend Grand Canyon University is $20,585 for arizona compsci students.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 5.0%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
University of Advancing Technology did quite well in the 2024 Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona ranking, coming in at #6. This small school is located in Tempe, Arizona, and it awarded 17 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
University of Advancing Technology not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #6 on our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list. It costs about $16,015 for arizona compsci students per year to attend University of Advancing Technology.

American InterContinental University - Online did quite well in the 2024 Best Value CompSci Schools in Arizona ranking, coming in at #7. American InterContinental University - Online is a fairly large school located in Chandler, Arizona that handed out 47 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
AIU Online not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #7 on our “Best Computer Science Schools in Arizona” list. It costs about $13,339 for arizona compsci students per year to attend AIU Online.
