Design & Applied Arts is the 34th most popular major in the country with 36,854 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, design and applied arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $29,542 and had an average of $27,114 in loans still to pay off.

This ranking identifies schools with high-quality design and applied arts programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Fashion Institute of Technology landed the #6 spot on the 2022 Best Value Design Schools for an Associate in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Fashion Institute of Technology is a public institution located in New York, New York. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 838 associates’s degrees in 2019-2020.
FIT SUNY did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Design & Applied Arts Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” list. The yearly cost to attend Fashion Institute of Technology is $10,523 for middle atlantic region associate degree design students.
The low student loan default rate of 3.8% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 88%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

LaGuardia Community College landed the #7 spot on the 2022 Best Value Design Schools for an Associate in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Long Island City, New York is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s design degrees to 45 students in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our middle atlantic region associate degree design students list, LaGuardia has also earned the #8 rank in our “Best Design & Applied Arts Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking. It costs about $6,766 for Middle Atlantic Region Associate Degree Design students per year to attend LaGuardia.
Suffolk County Community College landed the #8 spot on the 2022 Best Value Design Schools for an Associate in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Suffolk County Community College is located in Selden, New York and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 35 associates’s design degrees to qualified students.
