2022 Best Value IS Schools for a Master’s in the New England Region

Information Science is the 56th most popular major in the country with 18,368 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $58,848 and had an average of $32,600 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 1,017 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $64,663 and $26,051 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 470 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,606 and $42,101 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IS Schools for a Master’s in the New England Region” ranking analyzed 4 colleges that offered a degree in information science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information science programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Massachusetts - Boston. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value IS Schools for a Master’s in the New England Region list. Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s IS degrees to 32 students in 2019-2020.
UMass Boston not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #4 on our “Best Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list. Average graduate tuition and fees at University of Massachusetts - Boston are $36,485, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.

Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this large private not-for-profit school awarded 15 diplomas to qualified masters’s IS students in 2019-2020.
Harvard also made our “Best Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list, coming in at #1. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at Harvard are $50,654.

Boston U is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Boston, Massachusetts. It awarded 351 masters’s IS degrees in 2019-2020.
