In 2019-2020, 2,737 people earned their degree in American Sign Language, making the major the 197th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,270 and had an average of $21,733 in loans still to pay off.

At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 112 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid” ranking, we looked at 6 colleges that offer a degree in American Sign Language. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great American Sign Language programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Jacksonville, Florida is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s ASL degrees to 26 students in 2019-2020.

UNF did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #3 on our “Best American Sign Language Master’s Degree Schools” list. Average graduate tuition and fees at University of North Florida are $21,930, but some majors have different tuition rates.

St. Kate’s is a small school located in Saint Paul, Minnesota that handed out 6 masters’s ASL degrees in 2019-2020.

Monmouth, Oregon is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s ASL degrees to 9 students in 2019-2020.

Located in Washington, District of Columbia, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 40 degrees to qualified masters’s ASL students in 2019-2020.

Rochester Institute of Technology came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid ranking. Rochester Institute of Technology is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Rochester, New York. It awarded 7 masters’s ASL degrees in 2019-2020.

RIT also took the #1 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Master’s Degree Schools” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at RIT are $50,442, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
