General Business/Commerce is the 13th most popular major in the country with 55,749 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, general business/commerce graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $40,821 and had an average of $25,596 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 10,177 general business/commerce graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,581 and $26,197 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 3,159 general business/commerce graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,039 and $42,488 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking looked at 18 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general business/commerce. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general business/commerce programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Xavier is a private not-for-profit institution located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 128 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Out of the 18 schools in the Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Wisconsin - Madison landed the #3 spot on the list. University of Wisconsin - Madison is a large school located in Madison, Wisconsin that handed out 94 masters’s general business degrees in 2019-2020.

Youngstown State University is a fairly large school located in Youngstown, Ohio that handed out 32 masters’s general business degrees in 2019-2020.

Purdue University Fort Wayne landed the #6 spot on the 2022 Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region ranking. PFW is a medium-sized public school situated in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It awarded 41 masters’s general business degrees in 2019-2020.

With a ranking of #7, Indiana University - Bloomington did quite well on the 2022 Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region list. IUPUI is a large public school situated in Indianapolis, Indiana. It awarded 190 masters’s general business degrees in 2019-2020.
