General English Literature is the 22nd most popular major in the country with 41,945 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $27,525 and had an average of $23,628 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 9,328 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $26,182 and $23,899 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 8,016 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.
