In 2019-2020, 13,036 people earned their degree in writing studies, making the major the 76th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, writing studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $29,483 and had an average of $27,853 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 2,338 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,500 and $28,380 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,297 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,278 and $24,587 respectively.
