American Sign Language is the 197th most popular major in the country with 2,737 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,270 and had an average of $21,733 in loans still to pay off.

At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 528 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value ASL Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking analyzed 30 colleges that offered a degree in American Sign Language. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality American Sign Language programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the American Sign Language program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
