It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. In 2019-2020, 31,080 people earned their degree in mathematics, making the major the 32nd most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, mathematics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,066 and had an average of $21,378 in loans still to pay off.

At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,142 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Math Schools for a Doctorate For Those Making $48-$75k” ranking looked at 130 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in mathematics. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent mathematics programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
