It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. College Factual has developed its “Best Value Theater Schools for a Doctorate” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.

In 2019-2020, 11,561 people earned their degree in theater arts, making the major the 69th most popular in the United States.

At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 59 theater arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value Theater Schools for a Doctorate” ranking, we looked at 27 colleges that offer a degree in theater arts. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great theater arts programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the theater arts program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
