In 2019-2020, 101,094 accounting students received their degree, making the major the 8th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,557 and had an average of $26,381 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 15,309 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,733 and $24,768 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 12 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,428 and $121,375 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Accounting Schools for a Doctorate in the Great Lakes Region” ranking looked at 3 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in accounting. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent accounting programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 3 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for a Doctorate in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Ohio State University - Main Campus landed the #3 spot on the list.
