In 2019-2020, 14,198 people earned their degree in management information systems, making the major the 69th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, management information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $56,157 and had an average of $27,895 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,668 management information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value MIS Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking, we looked at 80 colleges that offer a degree in management information systems. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent management information systems programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 80 schools in the Best Value MIS Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, Western Governors University landed the #3 spot on the list. WGU is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Salt Lake City, Utah. It awarded 587 masters’s MIS degrees in 2019-2020.
