Computer Science is the 19th most popular major in the country with 53,722 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $66,561 and had an average of $23,565 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 7,276 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,029 and $22,542 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 151 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $71,978 and $116,300 respectively.

Out of the 18 schools in the Best Value CompSci Schools for a Doctorate in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Florida Institute of Technology landed the #3 spot on the list. Florida Tech is a medium-sized school located in Melbourne, Florida that handed out 9 doctorate’s compsci degrees in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our southeast region doctor’s degree compsci students list, Florida Tech has also earned the #11 rank in our “Best Computer Science Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.
