Information Technology is the 46th most popular major in the country with 38,958 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 8,575 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $75-$110k” ranking, we looked at 146 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the information technology program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

American Military University is a large school located in Charles Town, West Virginia that handed out 413 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2019-2020.

The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 98%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value IT Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $75-$110k. John Jay is a public institution located in New York, New York. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 119 bachelors’s degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Brigham Young University - Provo. The school came in at #4 for the Best Value IT Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $75-$110k. Located in Provo, Utah, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 145 degrees to qualified bachelors’s IT students in 2019-2020.
BYU also made our “Best Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Schools” list, coming in at #6. It costs about $15,362 for Bachelor’s Degree IT students whose families make $75-$110k per year to attend BYU.
With a freshman retention rate of 92%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students. The low student loan default rate of 1.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
