General Education is the 28th most popular major in the country with 29,936 degrees awarded in 2019-2020.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 18,793 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value General Education Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking, we looked at 301 colleges that offer a degree in general education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general education programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Stanford is a private not-for-profit institution located in Stanford, California. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 81 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 596 diplomas to qualified masters’s general education students in 2019-2020.
