An increased number of veterans enrolling at a particular school means that college faculty are more adept at accommodating and supporting those with previous military experience. Based on VA records, there are 1,053 GI Bill® students at UGA. With a total enrollment of 31,310, around 3.4% of the students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. By comparison, the Student Veterans of America reports that three to four percent of college students nationwide are veterans.
Note, this figure includes all chapters of the GI Bill® program (e.g., Post-9/11, Montgomery GI Bill®, Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment). It excludes active-duty military personnel attending through Tuition Assistance, so the true military population may be larger.
