In 2019-2020, 14,055 people earned their degree in student counseling, making the major the 73rd most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, student counseling graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $43,174 and had an average of $42,631 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,628 student counseling graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,912 and $37,730 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Student Counseling Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Getting Aid” ranking looked at 41 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in student counseling. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality student counseling programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
