2022 Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate

In 2019-2020, 1,226 people earned their degree in gerontology, making the major the 247th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, gerontology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $37,786 and had an average of $32,628 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 28 gerontology graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in gerontology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent gerontology programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend North Dakota State University - Main Campus. It ranked #1 on our 2022 Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate list. Out of the 10 schools in the Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, University of South Florida - Main Campus landed the #3 spot on the list. This large school is located in Tampa, Florida, and it awarded 3 doctorate’s gerontology degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Maryland - Baltimore County. The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate. Located in Baltimore, Maryland, this fairly large public school awarded 1 diplomas to qualified doctorate’s gerontology students in 2019-2020.

University of Massachusetts - Boston did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Gerontology Schools for a Doctorate ranking, coming in at #8. UMass Boston is a public institution located in Boston, Massachusetts. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 7 doctorate’s degrees in 2019-2020.
