2022 Best Value Doctor’s Degree Colleges for Mathematics & Computer Science
When pursuing a degree in today’s world, students have many different options to choose from. In 2019-2020, 1,134 people earned their degree in mathematics and computer science, making the major the 229th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, mathematics and computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $52,850 and had an average of $21,473 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 14 mathematics and computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Math & CompSci Schools for a Doctorate” ranking, we looked at 2 colleges that offer a degree in mathematics and computer science. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality mathematics and computer science programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

University of Minnesota - Twin Cities is a public institution located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The school has a large population, and it awarded 1 doctorate’s degrees in 2019-2020.

SDSU also took the #2 spot in our “Best Mathematics & Computer Science Doctor’s Degree Schools” ranking. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at SDSU are $18,658.

GMU is a large public school situated in Fairfax, Virginia. It awarded 2 doctorate’s math and compsci degrees in 2019-2020.
