In 2019-2020, 1,134 people earned their degree in mathematics and computer science, making the major the 229th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, mathematics and computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $52,850 and had an average of $21,473 in loans still to pay off.

At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 14 mathematics and computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value Math & CompSci Schools for a Doctorate” ranking, we looked at 2 colleges that offer a degree in mathematics and computer science. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality mathematics and computer science programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
