2022 Best Value Religion Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southwest Region

In 2019-2020, 9,704 people earned their degree in religious studies, making the major the 115th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, religious studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $32,163 and had an average of $28,712 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 423 religious studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,900 and $24,858 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 259 religious studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,896 and $23,899 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Religion Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southwest Region” ranking analyzed 8 colleges that offered a degree in religious studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent religious studies programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

UT Austin also made our “Best Religious Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #1. The estimated yearly cost for UT Austin is $18,023 for Southwest Region Bachelor’s Degree Religion students.
With a freshman retention rate of 97%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students. The school has an impressive student loan default rate. It’s only 2.7%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
