When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. Our “Best Value CompSci Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking is part of that endeavor.

In 2019-2020, 53,722 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 19th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $66,561 and had an average of $23,565 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 10,150 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,665 and $24,154 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,707 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,887 and $46,998 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value CompSci Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking looked at 40 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the computer science program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
