2022 Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region
When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
Information Technology is the 46th most popular major in the country with 38,958 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 6,665 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $46,641 and $27,901 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,786 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,887 and $46,998 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking, we looked at 30 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information technology programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the information technology program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 30 schools in the Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Wilmington University landed the #1 spot on the list. Out of the 30 schools in the Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Maryland Global Campus landed the #2 spot on the list. This large school is located in Adelphi, Maryland, and it awarded 821 masters’s IT degrees in 2019-2020.
UMGC also made our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” list, coming in at #8. Average graduate tuition and fees at UMGC are $12,132, but some majors have different tuition rates.
Out of the 30 schools in the Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Hood College landed the #3 spot on the list. Hood College is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Frederick, Maryland. It awarded 26 masters’s IT degrees in 2019-2020.
