Electrical Engineering is the 31st most popular major in the country with 30,670 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 3,947 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,637 and $22,172 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 278 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $71,970 and $95,025 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent electrical engineering programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Located in Houston, Texas, this medium-sized private not-for-profit school awarded 11 degrees to qualified doctorate’s EE students in 2019-2020.

Out of the 15 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Austin landed the #2 spot on the list. The University of Texas at Austin is located in Austin, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 63 doctorate’s EE degrees to qualified students.

UT Austin also made our “Best Electrical Engineering Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #1. Average graduate tuition and fees at The University of Texas at Austin are $22,886, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.

Out of the 15 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, Arizona State University - Tempe landed the #3 spot on the list. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctorate’s EE degrees to 44 students in 2019-2020.
