Electrical Engineering is the 31st most popular major in the country with 30,670 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,377 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking analyzed 145 colleges that offered a degree in electrical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality electrical engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Out of the 145 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, Stanford University landed the #1 spot on the list. Stanford, California is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctorate’s EE degrees to 84 students in 2019-2020.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Princeton University. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate For Those Making $0-$30k list. Princeton is located in Princeton, New Jersey and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 20 doctorate’s EE degrees to qualified students.

Located in Evanston, Illinois, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 11 degrees to qualified doctorate’s EE students in 2019-2020.

California Institute of Technology is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Pasadena, California. It awarded 7 doctorate’s EE degrees in 2019-2020.
