In 2019-2020, 30,670 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 31st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 4,981 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $70,770 and $25,642 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,962 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,075 and $25,381 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking analyzed 51 colleges that offered a degree in electrical engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great electrical engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
