Electrical Engineering is the 31st most popular major in the country with 30,670 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 4,981 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $70,770 and $25,642 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 461 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,428 and $121,375 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Doctorate in the Great Lakes Region” ranking looked at 21 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in electrical engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great electrical engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
