In 2019-2020, 21,530 people earned their degree in dental support services, making the major the 79th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, dental support services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $32,238 and had an average of $13,361 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 5,732 dental support services graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,928 and $12,342 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 498 dental support services graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Dental Support Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking looked at 19 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in dental support services. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent dental support services programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 19 schools in the Best Value Dental Support Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences landed the #1 spot on the list. Little Rock, Arkansas is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelors’s dental support degrees to 32 students in 2019-2020.

UAMS also made our “Best Dental Support Services Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list, coming in at #2.

The low student loan default rate of 2.0% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

Out of the 19 schools in the Best Value Dental Support Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, St Petersburg College landed the #2 spot on the list. This large school is located in Clearwater, Florida, and it awarded 58 bachelors’s dental support degrees in 2019-2020.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at SPC, the school also landed the #9 spot in our “Best Dental Support Services Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. Out of the 19 schools in the Best Value Dental Support Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - New Orleans landed the #3 spot on the list.
