In 2019-2020, 38,020 people earned their degree in public health, making the major the 27th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, public health graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $41,740 and had an average of $35,895 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 8,859 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,888 and $33,500 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 4,601 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Public Health Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking analyzed 85 colleges that offered a degree in public health. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great public health programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the public health program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
