2022 Best Value Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Nursing in the Southeast Region
When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 313,362 nursing students received their degree, making the major the 3rd most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 74,467 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $64,095 and $26,787 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 32,953 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking analyzed 271 colleges that offered a degree in nursing. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great nursing programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Baptist Memorial College of Health Sciences is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Memphis, Tennessee. It awarded 136 bachelors’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.

Out of the 271 schools in the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of the Cumberlands landed the #3 spot on the list. Cumberlands is located in Williamsburg, Kentucky and, has a fairly large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 85 bachelors’s nursing degrees to qualified students.
The estimated yearly cost for University of the Cumberlands is $16,894 for southeast region bachelor’s degree nursing students.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Western Carolina University. The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region. This fairly large school is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina, and it awarded 178 bachelors’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.
The estimated yearly cost for WCU is $13,722 for southeast region bachelor’s degree nursing students.
Out of the 271 schools in the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, West Coast University-Miami landed the #5 spot on the list. West Coast University-Miami is a private for-profit institution located in Doral, Florida. The school has a small population, and it awarded 189 bachelors’s degrees in 2019-2020.

On top of its placing in this ranking, Cabarrus College of Health Sciences also did well on our “Best Nursing Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools reviewed in that analysis. It costs about $17,115 for Southeast Region Bachelor’s Degree Nursing students per year to attend Cabarrus College of Health Sciences.
The low student loan default rate of 4.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. The impressive student-to-faculty ratio of 7 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences landed the #14 spot on the 2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region ranking. University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is a small school located in Little Rock, Arkansas that handed out 131 bachelors’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.
On top of its placing in this ranking, UAMS also did well on our “Best Nursing Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list. It’s in the top 15% of all schools in this category.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College came in at #15 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region ranking. Located in Tifton, Georgia, this small public school awarded 16 degrees to qualified bachelors’s nursing students in 2019-2020.
