In 2019-2020, 313,362 nursing students received their degree, making the major the 3rd most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.
Across Florida, there were 19,908 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $65,158 and $28,952 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 8,502 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,006 and $20,456 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida” ranking, we looked at 45 colleges that offer a degree in nursing. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality nursing programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Hillsborough Community College came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida ranking. Located in Tampa, Florida, this fairly large public school awarded 191 diplomas to qualified associates’s nursing students in 2019-2020.

Polk State College landed the #9 spot on the 2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida ranking. Polk State College is a medium-sized public school situated in Winter Haven, Florida. It awarded 142 associates’s nursing degrees in 2019-2020.

With a ranking of #10, Daytona State College did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida list. Daytona State College is a public institution located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 230 associates’s degrees in 2019-2020.

College of Central Florida came in at #16 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida ranking. Ocala, Florida is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s nursing degrees to 126 students in 2019-2020.
CF not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #21 on our “Best Nursing Associate Degree Schools in Florida” list. The yearly cost to attend College of Central Florida is $6,548 for florida associate degree nursing students.
With a ranking of #17, Chipola College did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida list. Marianna, Florida is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s nursing degrees to 55 students in 2019-2020.
Chipola also took the #25 spot in our “Best Nursing Associate Degree Schools in Florida” ranking. The yearly cost to attend Chipola College is $2,557 for florida associate degree nursing students.
The student loan default rate at the school is 2.8%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.
Tallahassee Community College ranked #18 on this year’s Best Value Nursing Schools for an Associate in Florida list. Tallahassee Community College is located in Tallahassee, Florida and, has a fairly large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 103 associates’s nursing degrees to qualified students.
