2022 Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Refrigeration in the Southwest Region
With all of the options students have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. College Factual has developed its “Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2019-2020, 19,871 people earned their degree in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration, making the major the 186th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,328 and had an average of $11,782 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 2,703 heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,518 and $11,534 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 220 heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,605 and $16,886 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region” ranking looked at 17 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 17 schools in the Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology is a small public school situated in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. It awarded 29 associates’s HVACR degrees in 2019-2020.
OSU Institute of Technology also made our “Best Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Refrigeration Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #1. It costs about $6,500 for Southwest Region Associate Degree HVACR students per year to attend OSU Institute of Technology.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Del Mar College. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region list. Del Mar College is located in Corpus Christi, Texas and, has a fairly large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 11 associates’s HVACR degrees to qualified students.
DMC also took the #3 spot in our “Best Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Refrigeration Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. The yearly cost to attend DMC is $5,738 for southwest region associate degree hvacr students.

Out of the 17 schools in the Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Lone Star College System landed the #3 spot on the list. North Harris Montgomery is a large school located in The Woodlands, Texas that handed out 23 associates’s HVACR degrees in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our southwest region associate degree hvacr students list, North Harris Montgomery has also earned the #2 rank in our “Best Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Refrigeration Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.
