In 2019-2020, 19,871 people earned their degree in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration, making the major the 186th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,328 and had an average of $11,782 in loans still to pay off.

At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,873 heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value HVACR Schools for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 132 colleges that offer a degree in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
