Information Technology is the 46th most popular major in the country with 38,958 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 4,154 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,251 and $24,640 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 730 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,075 and $25,381 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking, we looked at 34 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
