2022 Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region
When pursuing a degree in today’s world, students have many different options to choose from. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 31,080 people earned their degree in mathematics, making the major the 32nd most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, mathematics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,066 and had an average of $21,378 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 4,750 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,143 and $21,686 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 3,890 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,277 and $25,415 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region” ranking, we looked at 82 colleges that offer a degree in mathematics. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great mathematics programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the mathematics program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

UF also made our “Best Mathematics Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list, coming in at #10. The estimated yearly cost for University of Florida is $6,302 for Southeast Region Bachelor’s Degree Math students.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 97%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. The student loan default rate at the school is 2.0%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.
Out of the 82 schools in the Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Appalachian State University landed the #4 spot on the list. Appalachian State is a public institution located in Boone, North Carolina. The school has a large population, and it awarded 39 bachelors’s degrees in 2019-2020.

University of South Florida - Main Campus ranked #8 on this year’s Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region list. Georgia Southern University ranked #14 on this year’s Best Value Math Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Southeast Region list. This large school is located in Statesboro, Georgia, and it awarded 18 bachelors’s math degrees in 2019-2020.
