Anthropology is the 77th most popular major in the country with 12,008 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, anthropology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $24,661 and had an average of $23,289 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 1,608 anthropology graduates with average earnings and debt of $26,839 and $25,532 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 224 anthropology graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,887 and $46,998 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Anthropology Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking looked at 22 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in anthropology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality anthropology programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
