Sociology is the 24th most popular major in the country with 37,807 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, sociology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $29,727 and had an average of $23,622 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 1,941 sociology graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,812 and $24,309 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,801 sociology graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,041 and $24,492 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Sociology Schools for a Bachelor’s in the New England Region” ranking looked at 63 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in sociology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent sociology programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
