Music is the 40th most popular major in the country with 27,047 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, music graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $25,639 and had an average of $28,653 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Plains States region, there were 1,454 music graduates with average earnings and debt of $26,717 and $27,428 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 944 music graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,786 and $25,576 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value Music Schools for a Bachelor’s in the Plains States Region” ranking, we looked at 64 colleges that offer a degree in music. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent music programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
